What is Urdhvareta Yoga?

      Urdhvareta yoga is essentially a form of pranayama exercise. By balancing the right and left hemispheres of the brain, this pranayama can improve your thinking, relieve stress, and improve your memory. 

In Sanskrit, Urdhva means “upwards”, and reta means “seed,” so the literal translation is to send the seed up. The practice can involve a combination of physical postures, breathing techniques, meditation, and other practices to help individuals conserve and redirect their energy towards higher spiritual goals.

      Urdhvareta yoga’s main goal is to reawaken the latent, sleeping kundalini shakti. This breathing technique is one of the best for balancing the left and right sides of your body (ida and pingla nadis), as well as for supplying the chetana shakti flow that awakens into the susmana nadi (middle channel-nadis) and following nadi sodhan pranayama purification.

 As time went on, yogis realised that kundalini shakti should flow into sahesrara, thus they experimented with various techniques to direct the energy towards brahma randhri. To direct the passage of kundalini shakti to their sahesrara centers, some of them even attempted to turn themselves upside down partially.   • Pay close attention to your breathing and start by observing how it feels.
